Iran's Supreme Leader and Anti-MEK Movie

http://www.iranfocus.com/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31787&catid=35&Itemid=129

On July 15th state media in Iran fully covered the remarks of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei about a movie called, “The Adventure of Midday”.
Following the ignominy of this movie which was produced against the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran ( PMOI/MEK), the news agency of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) released the news about the meeting of Iranian regime's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei with film producers which depicts Khamenei’s role in the production of this movie. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was also involved in the production of the movie in February/March 2017.
The news was first released by the IRGC following confessions and protests among various government bands due to the ignominy of this scandalous film. It was then published by other state-run news agencies.
According to state-run news agencies, in the meeting with his underlings who produced the movie, Khamenei who was after production of it against the MEK said: “This film ‘Midday Adventure’ was very good. All the components of the movie were great; it was a great director; excellent play and great stories. The film was well-made.”
This is completely unprecedented on the Khamenei’s end as the supreme leader to explicitly take a position like this about a movie, but if we take a look at the regime’s current conditions and especially how Iranian youths feel, we will come to realize that Khamenei’s remarks not only are not strange but actually are quite necessary.
This movie resembles various events of the 1980s and the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). These developments had become the main riddle for all the youth who have not seen that day and age. Tens of thousands of young MEK members and other brave Iranian youths lost their lives struggling for a free Iran then and ever since.
Public executions, tortures to death, horrific prisons and interrogations, all awaited those political prisoners. Many who already were serving their prison sentences were also executed.
Sentences were announced through state TV and radio as follows:
MEK members need no court procedures, kill them wherever you see them on the streets! If you find them injured, finish them! Don’t take them to hospitals!
The MEK have no reverence, spill their blood and spoil their belongings! They don’t even have the right to file a complaint!
Judges should not accept MEK complaints!
Those MEK members arrested must be thrown off heights (such as a mountain)! Or their right hands and left feet amputated, or…
These remarks from regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini, Hashemi Rafsanjani, Khamenei and the mullahs’ “judges”, have been published in state media, leaving no room for denial.
“We were wrong! At the very beginning of the revolution we should have taken a number of them and set them on fire… they would have been finished then!” Khomeini once said.
Today’s generation seeks to know for what crime the MEK members have been sentenced to death, raided and tortured. What did the MEK members and sympathizers do to deserve such criminal fatwas?
And when today’s youth refer to state bodies to seek answers for their questions, they will not find adequate answers in so-called investigated books, documents or other evidence provided by the state, nor even in articles or movies. All they here is ‘hypocrites’ in reference to MEK members.
From the very first day of the revolution they revolted against the establishment and imam, they took up arms and killed all the people, young, old, men, women, children… (Something like Frankenstein!) Khomeini was forced to issue a fatwa to defend Islam and Muslims, and he ordered the MEK to be killed as soon as possible and in the harshest way possible! Period!
To legitimize their crime they began describing the MEK as being apostates and accusing them of false crimes!
Of course, the mullahs never said anything about the MEK’s efforts to keep a 2½ year period of peaceful political atmosphere in Iran! By tolerating all sorts of attacks and humiliation exerted on them by Iranian regime’s agents.
Of course, they say nothing about the 71 MEK members who were criminally killed by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) during this period! For participating in peaceful protest rallies.
Of course, the mullahs fail to say they weren’t willing to accept even one MEK complaint!
The mullahs still refuse to officially announce the names and descriptions of the MEK members who were brutally killed, their “official” sentencing, and how they were prosecuted and murdered.
The mullahs continue to refuse publishing files about which MEK members were killed, where are they buried, neither the MEK killed after 20 June 1981, nor those murdered during the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners!
Even after nearly four decades, the mullahs continue to refuse holding any dialogue about those incidents… To cloak their crimes, they conduct interviews after interviews, write articles, novels, stories, and even TV and silver screen movies… all attempting to demonize the MEK and legitimize their own measures as legal actions!
This is exactly where today’s generations ask questions: “If the MEK are truly what you say they are, why you don’t publish their judiciary files? Why don’t you publish their names? Why you do not show their graves even to their family members?
Why have you started to destroy their unmarked graves across the country? (MEK graves in Tabriz, Mashhad and other cities)
These questions became even more serious when youths heard from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani how in the past 38 years Iran has been a country of executions! In other words, this country has been built on the foundations of executions and suppression!

he annual “Free Iran” gathering of the Iranian Resistance, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), commenced on July 1st attracting tens of thousands of participants from over five continents, including prominent political figures from the United States and Europe. A wide range of topics were addressed and human rights were at the forefront. Speakers used the opportunity to condemn Iran’s government for violating the rights of its people. Iran is known for its appalling human rights record. In addition to its relentless use of the death penalty, the regime continues to practice medieval punishments such as stoning, eye gouging, flogging and hand amputations. President Hassan Rouhani’s claims of improving human rights was false. Nearly 3,000 inmates were executed during his first term in office. Days after his reelection reports indicate ten inmates were executed. The regime has heightened its suppression on society in recent months and years, thus proving moderation is a false notion in Iran’s governmental structure. During the conference, Theresa Villiers, MP of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, mentioned that 700 people were executed in just a span of six months in 2015, “equivalent to around three every single day of the year.” She also mentioned the persecution of religious minorities, such as Christians and Baha’is, who are discriminated against simply because of their faith. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani compared the regime’s current human rights record to that of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s term and concluded it has deteriorated. “When I hear the word moderate and I hear the name Rouhani, I think of the fact that he has actually killed more people in Iran than Ahmadinejad,” he said. Giuliani added Rouhani attempts to depict himself as a moderate to the international community, meanwhile “to the Iranian people, he is a violent and vicious murderer.”

http://ncr-iran.org/en/news/society/23194-iran-regime-s-filtering-committee-30-of-free-and-active-telegram-channels-are-against-the-national-security

NCRI - The Secretary of Iran's Filtering Committee announced the discovery of 40 thousand #Telegram channels working against the regime; stating that 8 thousand of them have not been blocked yet.
According to the state-run Mehr News, Abdulsamad Khoramabadi in an interview with the Deputy Minister of Communication, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi talked of the state of cyberspace and the filtering policy on social networks. He stated that more than 30% of the criminal channels are actively against the national security of the country.
The Deputy Attorney General of the regime pointed out that many criminal channels have been identified in the cyberspace; adding that, "We report all these channels to the Ministry of Intelligence on a daily basis. Therefore, this Ministry sends these channels to related authorities in order to be blocked."
The Secretary of #Iran's Filtering Committee stipulated that more than two-thirds of cyberspace is used for illegal acts; admitting that, "Many cyberspace bases are not under our control."
He added," we have identified 8 thousand criminal open channels and reported them to the Ministry of Intelligence. These channels are actively working against the national security, public morality and the sanctity of the regime."
Telegram Company Does Not Accept Regime's Criminal Indexes
Abdolsamad Khoramabadi stated that the Ministry of Intelligence should warn the administrators about blocking these channels. He added, "Telegram does not approve our request and therefore no action has been taken in this regard. We do not say that the cyberspace has been abandoned. Nevertheless, much of the country's cyberspace is uncontrollable."
The Secretary of Iran's Filtering Committee in response to the question that, "How the criminal channels are detected?" stated, "We have an electronic system by which we identify the channels and report them to the Ministry of Intelligence."
Khoramabadi also added, "We have currently identified 40 thousand Telegram criminal channels of which have changed their names or started a new activity. However, 20 thousand criminal channels have been identified and 8 thousand of them were actively working against the sanctities as well as the national security."
30% of Channels Working Against the National Security of the Country
Khoramabadi also referred to the activities of the Mujahedeen (PMOI/MEK) in this field, acknowledging that, "The #PMOI (#MEK) is operating its channels easily despite the fact that it is not allowed to publish a book against the regime and revolution in the country. However, the enemies of the Islamic Republic pass the anti-regime contents to people online and no one will stop them."
This regime's agent at the end referred to 30% criminal channels and said that, "However, the Ministry of Communication announced that Telegram Company does not execute our orders."

Iran: The Prominent Female Political Prisoner Writes a Letter to Ambassadors Visiting Evin Prison

http://ncr-iran.org/en/news/human-rights/23192-iran-the-prominent-female-political-prisoner-writes-a-letter-to-ambassadors-visiting-evin-prison

NCRI - The female political prisoner Maryam Akbari Monfared has written a letter to foreign countries’ ambassadors to #Iran who recently visited #Evin prison, pointing out the facts being hidden from them by prison officials.
Held in various prisons for decades and currently spending her eighth year in Evin prison, Akbari Monfared describes in her letter the situation in Iranian regime’s prisons, saying “I’ve witnessed with my own eyes the devaluation of human and humanity”. She points in her letter to prison special guards beating wretched, feeble female prisoners with batons.
Part of Akbari Monfared’s letter is listed below:
To honorable ambassadors Mr. Dian Wirengjuri of Indonesia, Mr. Mário Fernando Damas Nunes of Portugal, and others,
For all those whose hearts are beating for human and humanity, and for a value beyond geographical borders.
I’m speaking as a witness. Witness to endless, horrible days in Share-Ray, #Gohardasht, and Evin prisons, where one even fails to breathe. Dark, high-ceiling metal sheds without any window to allow sunlight in, filled with cigarette smoke, accommodating 200 inmates each; crowded, noisy places which drives inmates crazy. A total devaluation of human and humanity, witnessed with my own eyes.
I’ve witnessed inmates’ furious eyes, and feeble, wretched women being beaten with batons by prison special guards. I’ve witnessed fights over food and bread in prison’s dining room, which was renamed as beating room by inmates. Prison food was so little that hungry inmates were forced to collect the residue of other food trays as well as the food which was left on the ground, and a little while later, throwing trays and chairs, and fighting over the remaining foods.

Mr. Gharibabadi, Deputy Chair of regime’s #Human Rights Headquarters’ International Affairs, have said some countries and media present a false, inaccurate image of Iran’s prisons! If that’s true and there’s a wonderful situation in your prisons, why didn’t you even allow former UN Special Rapporteur ‘Ahmad Shaheed’, and the current one ‘#Asma Jahangir’ to enter Iran, let alone visiting prisons?
Mr. Gharibabadi has spoken of prisons’ valuable healthcare services. Wasn’t it at these same prisons that Mr. Mohsen Dogmehchi got sick due to lack of medical care and eventually lost his invaluable life thereafter? Is it not true that Mr. Hoda Saber lost his invaluable life in this very Evin prison due to being sent to medical center late? while I’m writing this letter, my dearest wardmate Azita Rafeizadeh, mother of six-year-old Bashir and wife to Peyman Kushkbaghi who’s also serving his prison term in Gohardasht prison, is injured having broken her finger in two places on July 6. Three days on, however, she’s still not allowed to be sent to hospital for treatment.

2 years into nuclear deal, US policy on Iran needs major makeover

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/international-affairs/342377-2-years-into-nuclear-deal-us-iran-policy-needs-major

July marks the second anniversary of the nuclear agreement between the Iranian regime and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany. Former U.S. President #Barack Obama envisioned the agreement — known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (#JCPOA) — as a potential starting point for a broader rapprochement between the ruling theocracy and the West.
Obama had insisted that with Hassan Rouhani as the regime’s “moderate” president, Tehran would begin to exhibit a more positive behavior. Now, in his second term in office, the promise of moderation under Rouhani’s leadership has proven empty. That is because Rouhani neither wants nor is capable of reform. After all, it is not the president but the supreme leader who defines the contours of the regime’s short-term and long-term strategic direction.

That the possibility of moderation in the Iranian theocracy is a total delusion was reflected in Secretary of Defense James Mattis's recent interview with Washington state’s Mercer Island High School newspaper.

After 38 years of the clerical rule in #Iran, the world is beginning to understand that stability in the Middle East requires the removal of the Iranian regime, known for being the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism and the only full-fledged theocracy in the modern world.
Two years after the nuclear deal, it is time for a serious and comprehensive Iran policy makeover based on realities on the ground. This means designating the IRGC as a terrorist entity, expelling the Iranian regime and its proxies from the region, taking effective initiatives to permanently block the Iranian regime’s path to a nuclear bomb, and recognizing the Iranian people’s right to topple the regime and establish a democratic and peace-seeking representative government that would be the source of stability and peace in the region.

Khamenei's Fear of Public Outrage of Regime Crimes, Especially in 1980s, and Popular Acceptance of Resistance

Praising a film made by #IRGC for whitening these crimes, and ordering a film to whitewash the butcher of #Tehran
While public outrage and hatred of the massacre of political prisoners in the 80s is growing, the Justice-Seeking movement is advancing, and the #PMOI and Iranian Resistance are more welcomed by the Iranian people, Khamenei resorts to a humiliated act to praise the film titled as "Majera-ye Nimrouz". This film was made upon Khamenei’s order by the fascist bands of the Revolutionary Guards and was aimed at whitewashing and justifying the numerous crimes of this regime in the 1980s.
The government's media reported on July 15 that the film was shown to Khamenei, after which its producers went to meet Khamenei. While praising the film producers, he said, “The film was very good. All the components of the movie were great, it was directed greatly. The actors and the scenario were excellent. The film was well-made.” Prior to this, even some state-affiliated individuals had made comments regarding the distortion of historical events in the film and had said that the film narrated a period when the government executed PMOI members mercilessly.
Khamenei's meeting with the producers of the film, which happened in March last year according to state media, was made public with a few months delay at a time when Khamenei and the regime at its totality received a terrible blow from the Iranian people and Resistance and failed to bring Ebrahim Reisi to the office in presidential election.

Azghandi, one of the agents of Khamenei's gang, revealed the mullahs’ regime’s fear of the widespread Justice-Seeking movement and said, “In the 2010s, they are putting Khomeini under question via the 1980s slogans, and have started trialing Khomeini.” He attacked the other faction for admitting to some of the crimes of the regime's anti-human crimes and said: "These individuals have been responsible for the security of the country for 30 years, for 20 years. No security orders were issued without their signatures; half of our authorities have been working for the Intelligence Ministry….Members of our government have a background of working for the Ministry of Intelligence.... These acts mean the destruction of Imam (Khomeini); they don’t mention anything about Imam, the target is Imam himself though…” (State TV-channel 1- July 14, 2017)

OPINION | Trump recertified the Iran nuclear deal — now what?

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/foreign-policy/342458-opinion-trump-recertified-the-iran-nuclear-deal-now-what#.WW3fIZj8uhA.facebook
President Trump allowed Secretary of State #Rex Tillerson to announce late Monday that Iran is in compliance with the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal. Trump did not want to certify in April or recertify in July but was persuaded on condition his team come back with a new strategy to confront Tehran.
The first draft did not make the cut, reports The New York Times. The second did, and a notice was sent for Congress to continue withholding nuclear-related sanctions against #Iran.
Although it’s a close call, Tillerson’s decision is a mistake. And the Iran policy review should result in stricter enforcement of the Iran deal, renegotiation or additional non-nuclear sanctions imposed on #Tehran for its ballistic missile testing as well as its state sponsored international terrorism.
Background

Under U.S. law, the Department of State must notify Congress every 90 days of Iran’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal. Monday, July 17, was the deadline. July 18 is a different target date. It is to provide a reportto the Congress on Iran’s overall nuclear behavior and decide whether to waive or reinstitute sanctions lifted under the nuclear deal. The report is due 180 days after Jan. 20, Inauguration Day, i.e., on July 18.
Pros & Cons
Bureaucratic politics play a large role in the pros and cons of whether to comply with these deadlines and whether to remain a party to the nuclear deal as it stands. Reports indicate fierce disagreements among the principals. Ali Vaez, a senior Iran analyst at the International Crisis Group, expressed the theme of this column. He said on July 14, “Trump decided to keep the deal in place based on a pure cost-benefit calculus,” writing in The National, an online journal based in the Persian Gulf. While Vaez leans toward the pro side of the equation, this writer comes down on the side with those against certification.

IRAN REGIME'S SUPREME LEADER ROLE IN THE PRODUCTION OF MOVIES AGAINST MEK

http://irannewsupdate.com/news/iranian-opposition/3999-iran-regime-s-supreme-leader-role-in-the-production-of-movies-against-mek.html

INU - Following the ignominy of the movie “Adventure of Nimrooz (Midday Adventure)", made against the People’s Mujahedin Organization of #Iran ( #PMOI/#MEK), the news agency of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) released the news about the meeting of Iranian regime's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei with film producers which exposes Khamenei’s role in the production of this movie. The IRGC was also involved in the production of the movie in February/March 2017.
The news was first released by the IRGC following confessions and protests among various government bands due to the ignominy of this scandalous film. It was then published by other state-run news agencies.
According to state-run news agencies, Khamenei who was after production of this movie against the MEK, in the meeting with his subordinates who produced the movie said: “This film ‘Midday Adventure’ was very good. All the components of the movie were great; it was a great director; excellent play and great stories. The film was well-made.”
The reports show that Khamenei in the same meeting ordered the production of a movie to and whitewash the crimes of the Evin executioner, Assadollah Lajevardi, and show the facts upside down and misrepresent this criminal.
Funding for the movie against MEK by the Revolutionary Guards!

The story of “Adventure of Nimrooz” was written and directed by Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian and produced by Sayyed Mahmoud Razavi.
Synopsis of the film is a narrative of direct interrogators, torturers and killers of the MEK in 1980s. The movies goal is confronting the rise in popularity of the MEK particularly among the youths who were borne on or after 1981, in order to tarnish the MEK's image and prevent the youth from joining the MEK.
The IRGC and Ministry of Intelligence have been producing numerous movies against the MEK including “Cyanor” and “Adventure of Nimrooz” with the same intention.

Zibakalam also strongly criticized the movie produced with the support of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), “Majaraye Nimrooz” (Midday Adventures), which was previewed at the Fajr film festival. He said that the film does not replicate the truth about what took place between the IRGC and MEK during that period.
“We accuse the MEK of conducting a series of assassinations back in the 1980s. Did MEK members carry out these measures for no reason at all?” this #Rafsanjani confidant asked.
Ahmad Khatami, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Board of Directors and the Qom Religious School and a Friday prayer leader in Tehran, in response to the “Death Committee” sound file, stipulated for the first time that the execution of MEK prisoners in 1988 was carried out on charges of “moharebe against God and his Messenger” (enmity against God and his Prophet) and according to an order issued by Khomeini. He added that this measure was in line with implementing orders of the Quran, Islamic jurisprudence and a revolutionary measure that has served in the better interest of Islam and Iranian people.

Iran: 117 prisoners to be executed within a month

http://iran-hrm.com/index.php/2017/07/14/iran-117-prisoners-executed-within-month/
117 prisoners are going to be hanged within a month in #Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, according to prisoners’ families and informed sources inside jails.
The families of some inmates who were transferred to solitary confinement during the past few days in preparation for their executions, referred to Gohardasht Prison to have a last visit with their loved ones.
According to these families, 13 inmates are going to be executed, soon. A large group of death row prisoners’ families held a protest on Tuesday July 11, in front of this facility.
Some prisoners said that their families had heard from the prison authorities that 117 people are going to be executed before the holy month of Muharram. For this reason, the “execution days” have been increased from once a week on Wednesdays to twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays.
At least eight prisoners were executed on Sunday, July 2. Some had been transferred from #Ghezelhesar Prison. The victims had not been named by the state media.
Iran Human Rights Monitor urges all international human rights advocates and organizations to take urgent action to prevent these executions in #Iran.
