Iran’s Most Feared Mullah Acknowledges Massacre of Political Prisoners

http://newsblaze.com/world/middle-east/irans-most-feared-mullah-acknowledges-massacre-of-political-prisoners_82904/
#Iran massacred over 30,000 political prisoners in summer of 1988 and kept a lid on this atrocity for three decades. In this year’s presidential election a conservative cleric by the name of Ebrahim Raisi, one of the perpetrators of the massacre, was selected as a main candidate, resurfacing the 1988 massacre and forcing regime officials, one after another, to confess about the carnage.
Last week in an unprecedented interview, former Iranian intelligence minister Ali Fallahian revealed the mindset behind the 1988 mass execution. Fallahian, described as “perhaps the most feared mullah in Iran” by Newsweek, is wanted by Interpol for his involvement in the 1994 AMIA bombing that killed 85 people in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In his interview Fallahian explains whoever had any relation with the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) was condemned to death.
“Imam [Khomeini] said you must execute those who are steadfast in their beliefs,” he said referring to the Iranian regime founder. “We couldn’t let them go and couldn’t keep them in jail. If we had kept them in jail, we would have had a bunch of people over our head telling us don’t keep them in jail. So a 3-man team of judges and ministers was assigned to oversee these cases, release those who were eligible and execute those that were not,” he continued.
In the summer of 1988 Khomeini issued a religious decree calling for the massacre.
“Whoever at any stage continues to belong to the (PMOI/MEK) must be executed. Annihilate the enemies of Islam immediately! … Those who are in prisons throughout the country and remain steadfast in their support for the MEK are waging war on God, and are condemned to execution … It is naive to show mercy to those who wage war on God,” the decree reads in part.
A committee of four men was formed to implement the order, and in a matter of a few months over 30,000 political prisoners were executed, mostly members and supporters of the main opposition PMOI/MEK.
“The principal point was to execute all prisoners, except those who were eligible for parole?” asks the interviewer.
“They were supposed to check and see and talk to the prisoners to find out if they still adhere to their beliefs,” Fallahian responds.
“What was the benchmark for evaluating who is steadfast and who is not?” asks the interviewer. “To say that I believe in the #PMOI and don’t believe in you,”Fallahian explains.

In a report in 2009, Amnesty called on “Iranian authorities to immediately stop the destruction of hundreds of individual and mass, unmarked graves in Khavaran, south Tehran, to ensure that the site is preserved and to initiate a forensic investigation at the site as part of a long-overdue, thorough, independent and impartial investigation into mass executions which began in 1988, often referred to in Iran as the ‘prison massacres’. The organization fears that these actions of the Iranian authorities are aimed at destroying evidence of human rights violations and depriving the families of the victims of the 1988 killings of their right to truth, justice and reparation.”
All we hear in the West is about Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, and their malignant actions in neighboring countries. For far too long the West has turned a blind eye to Iran’s atrocious human rights violations

Khamenei's Fear of Public Outrage of Regime Crimes, Especially in 1980s, and Popular Acceptance of Resistance

http://ncr-iran.org/en/ncri-statements/iran-resistance/23193-khamenei-s-fear-of-public-outrage-of-regime-crimes-especially-in-1980s-and-popular-acceptance-of-resistance

Praising a film made by IRGC for whitening these crimes, and ordering a film to whitewash the butcher of Tehran
While public outrage and hatred of the massacre of political prisoners in the 80s is growing, the Justice-Seeking movement is advancing, and the PMOI and Iranian Resistance are more welcomed by the Iranian people, Khamenei resorts to a humiliated act to praise the film titled as "Majera-ye Nimrouz". This film was made upon Khamenei’s order by the fascist bands of the Revolutionary Guards and was aimed at whitewashing and justifying the numerous crimes of this regime in the 1980s.
The government's media reported on July 15 that the film was shown to Khamenei, after which its producers went to meet Khamenei. While praising the film producers, he said, “The film was very good. All the components of the movie were great, it was directed greatly. The actors and the scenario were excellent. The film was well-made.” Prior to this, even some state-affiliated individuals had made comments regarding the distortion of historical events in the film and had said that the film narrated a period when the government executed PMOI members mercilessly.
Khamenei's meeting with the producers of the film, which happened in March last year according to state media, was made public with a few months delay at a time when Khamenei and the regime at its totality received a terrible blow from the Iranian people and Resistance and failed to bring Ebrahim Reisi to the office in presidential election.
Fifteen days after this defeat, Khamenei warned on June 4th against the change of place of the martyr and hangman in the 80s.
In that meeting, Khamenei called for producing a film about Assadullah Lajevardi, who was nicknamed the butcher of Tehran and Eichmann of Iran, and said: "Let's do something for Mr. Lajevardi. He is one of the characters that deserves something to be done for him.” Lajevardi was hated by all the Iranian people for executing tens of thousands of political prisoners and imposing the most brutal tortures on political prisoners, especially on women. So many pregnant women, young girls and elderly mothers were executed by this hangman. The number of executed prisoners in 1981 and 1982 sometimes reached 400 political prisoners per day.

Azghandi, one of the agents of Khamenei's gang, revealed the mullahs’ regime’s fear of the widespread Justice-Seeking movement and said, “In the 2010s, they are putting Khomeini under question via the 1980s slogans, and have started trialing Khomeini.” He attacked the other faction for admitting to some of the crimes of the regime's anti-human crimes and said: "These individuals have been responsible for the security of the country for 30 years, for 20 years. No security orders were issued without their signatures; half of our authorities have been working for the Intelligence Ministry….Members of our government have a background of working for the Ministry of Intelligence.... These acts mean the destruction of Imam (Khomeini); they don’t mention anything about Imam, the target is Imam himself though…” (State TV-channel 1- July 14, 2017)

FORMER INTELLIGENCE MINISTER TALKS ABOUT 1988 MASSACRE OF MEK PRISONERS IN IRAN

FORMER INTELLIGENCE MINISTER TALKS ABOUT 1988 MASSACRE OF #MEK PRISONERS IN #IRAN

http://irannewsupdate.com/news/human-rights/4000-former-intelligence-minister-talks-about-1988-massacre-of-mek-prisoners-in-iran.html

INU - Ali Fallahian, a former Intelligence Minister of Iran, participated in an interview with Tarikh Online – a state-affiliated news website, earlier this month. He admitted that the Supreme Leader at the time, Ayatollah Khomeini, ordered the execution of anyone linked to the Iranian opposition (MEK) in a fatwa in 1988.
During the summer of 1988, more than 30,000 political prisoners, most of whom were members or supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI or MEK), the main Iranian opposition group, were executed.
He said that the fatwa ordered the execution of the MEK members who insisted on maintaining their beliefs. To deal with the logistics of it, a commission was formed, he said. This is what has become known as the “Death Commission”. Fallahian said that the purpose of the commission was in actual fact to see who would be pardoned instead of being executed.
He explained that the people could have escaped execution by saying that they no longer hold their beliefs and do not support the MEK or any other opposition. If they declared their commitment to the Supreme Leader they would have remained alive.

Mr. Hossein-Ali Montazeri released an audio recording of him warning the other members of the death commission about what they were partaking in. He said that such an act would go down in history as an unforgettable and horrific event. He was also concerned that it was not a good image of Islam. Fallahian said that he also clashed with Khomeini on other matters, and he was instructed to carry out his religious duties, in this case to participate in the 1988 massacre, without any regard for “history’s judgement”.
The Iranian regime has commented that the people who were executed in 1988 were armed when they were arrested, but Fallahian explained that this was not the case. Not all of the people who died were part of armed rebellion activities. Fallahian said that they did not distinguish between those who were armed and those who were not – if they were faced with a member of the MEK then they were treated as if they were armed.
The interviewer, clearly shocked by what they were hearing, asked Fallahian to clarify what he said. They asked him that if someone was carrying a MEK newspaper, would they have been arrested. Fallahian said yes, because they were part of the MEK.
The people of Iran are still waiting for justice despite repeated calls by the international community.

A TRIBUTE TO ZOHREH, WHO TAUNTED HER TORTURERS IN IRAN

THE TRUTH ABOUT IRAN'S EVIN PRISON

https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=8192565116681125439#editor/src=sidebar

n a Scandalous effort to dodge accusations of violation of human rights, the Evin Prison’s torturer arranged a ‘Prison Party’ by inviting some foreign diplomats working in Iran. The act was so ignominious that sparked protests by the human rights bodies and political prisoners.  Here is an Op-ed by Heshmat Alavi about the issue. Two months have passed since the May presidential “elections” in Iran that saw the incumbent Hassan Rouhani reach a second term.
The pro-Iran appeasement camp in the West went the distance to raise hopes over the hoax of Rouhani rendering major reforms.
These voices somehow described Rouhani as a “reformist” and completely neglected the over 3,000 executions during his first term as president. Reports from across the country are turning out to be very disturbing, signaling more troubling times to come in reference to human rights violations.
As fellow Forbes contributor Ellen R. Wald reported, “On July 16, news came out that an American graduate student at Princeton University named Xiyue Wang had been sentenced to 10 years in an Iranian prison for ‘espionage.’”
This is Iran again resorting to old tactics of taking Westerners as hostage, mainly dual citizens, to be used as bargaining chips in advancing objectives and politics in negotiations with interlocutors.
Another practice the regime in Tehran will continue is sending scores to the gallows. The Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran issued a report recently indicating 57 individuals have been executed across Iran in the beginning of July alone.
Reports from inside Iran also indicate nearly 120 inmates held in a prison west of Tehran are on the verge of execution. These hangings are planned for the next few weeks, their families say citing authorities, and the sentences of at least 13 individuals are to be implemented soon.
These alarming reports have all arrived only after a recent tour launched by the mullahs for dozens of foreign ambassadors to visit the notorious Evin Prison located in the hilltops of northern Tehran.
But of course, no human rights organization or international prison expert were invited, only selected areas of the prison were shown, and merely hand-picked images were provided to the media to depict a highly peaceful environment and go against any claims of rights violations.
This PR show in Evin, with its history of atrocities, was coupled with Iranian state media outlets pumping reports claiming the jail being upgraded to state-of-the-art conditions.
Iranian authorities went the distance to showcase specific facilities provided only to rich inmates behind bars for financial crimes. These areas included a gym, an in-house beauty salon, a library and also a restaurant.
What needs clarification to the outside world is the fact that Evin, along with many other prisons, has a dark history of widespread executions, tortures, and inhumane and unbearable conditions, to say the least. The regime in Iran, with a track record of 63 UN condemnations of human rights violations, is hardly in any position to claim of providing inmates with adequate conditions.
If Iran truly intends to be transparent, why not begin permitting all international human rights organizations unlimited access to any and all areas of each and every single prison across the country?
Following this orchestrated tour, Human Rights Watch made a call to Tehran seeking access for rights groups to these prisons. HRW is among many similar entities seeking access to Evin as the facility has been closed to human rights investigators representing independent international and national organizations.
While there is no expectation for Iran to begin allowing any honest visits, two female political prisoners wrote an open letter explaining the atrocities they endured in Evin.
Golrokh Iraee and Atena Daemi
Political prisoners Golrokh Iraee and Atena Daemi described”solitary cells with no windows, ventilation and lavatory,” “dungeons and dark interrogation rooms,” and “cells known as graves” in Evin.
Why this international delegation not visited the women’s ward of Evin where female political prisoners like themselves are held, they asked. Their letter goes on to explain how ward 4 of this prison was renovated by the inmates transferred to solitary confinement on the very day of the ambassadors’ visit.

Mrs. Maryam Akbari Monfared, another political prisoner whose three brothers and sister were executed during the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners across Iran, also wrote an extensive open letter as she spends her eighth year behind bars in Evin. Having experienced a variety of Iran’s jails for decades, Monfared wrote, “I’ve witnessed with my own eyes the devaluation of human and humanity” and experienced atrocities also in Shahre-Ray and Gohardasht prisons.
